EXPERIENCING MY SCHOOL’S HOMECOMING WEEK FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS GAVE ME EXPERIENCES THAT I WON'T SOON FORGET. MY FRIEND BYRON BANASIAK AND I DECIDED TO TEAM UP AND ATTEMPT TO
DOCUMENT THOSE EXPERIENCES. TELLING THE STORY OF DAKOTA DAYS WAS A CHALLENGE BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF EVENTS THAT OCCUR THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. MY PARTNER AND I HAD TO BE IN MULTIPLE
PLACES IN ORDER TO CAPTURE EVENTS CRUCIAL TO THE VIDEO. FILMING IN CERTAIN AREAS REQUIRED ME TO REACH OUT TO THE UNIVERSITY TO GAIN APPROVAL AND MEDIA PASSES. MY PARTNER AND I WORKED SIDE BY
SIDE DURING THE EDITING PROCESS, ULTIMATELY CORRECTING AND IMPROVING THE VIDEO. I USED AFTER EFFECTS FOR THE TIME LAPSES, INTRODUCTION, AND END TITLES OF THE VIDEO. THE D-DAYS VIDEO HAS
BEEN NOMINATED FOR A MIDWEST JOURNALISM AWARD.
